Advancing safe, lawful, humane, and ethical practices in production facilities worldwide using the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certification program.

At Intertek, we provide services for manufacturing facilities seeking certification under the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) programme, a globally recognised social compliance standard that verifies safe, lawful, humane, and ethical production.

WRAP certification demonstrates to brands, retailers, and consumers that your facility meets internationally accepted labour, health, safety, and environmental standards.

By partnering with Intertek, you gain a trusted global auditing and assurance provider with decades of experience helping factories achieve and maintain WRAP certification through comprehensive assessments, training, and continual improvement support.

Why WRAP Certification Matters

  • Enhance brand reputation - Demonstrate to your customers and partners that your facility meets global expectations for responsible manufacturing.
  • Reduce compliance risks - Identify and mitigate labour, health & safety, environmental, and ethical non-conformities.
  • Access new markets - Many international retailers and brands require WRAP-certified suppliers, helping you expand your customer base.
  • Avoid audit duplication - WRAP is accepted across the industry, minimising redundant supplier audits.
  • Promote continual improvement - Facilities must maintain ongoing monitoring and documentation to retain certification.

The 12 WRAP Principles

WRAP certification is based on twelve core principles aligned with ILO conventions, international human rights norms, and local laws:

  1. Compliance with laws and workplace regulations
  2. Prohibition of forced labour
  3. Prohibition of child labour
  4. Prohibition of harassment or abuse
  5. Compensation and benefits meeting legal requirements
  6. Reasonable hours of work
  7. Prohibition of discrimination
  8. Health and safety in the workplace
  9. Freedom of association and collective bargaining
  10. Environmental responsibility
  11. Customs compliance
  12. Security standards for transport and storage

Certification & Verification

WRAP Certification Process

Application

To start the certification process, the facility will engage Intertek and fill out an application with WRAP, selecting Intertek as the monitoring firm. This step gives WRAP key facility details and officially starts its participation in the program. For new facilities, visit WRAP's new facility registration form. If you are renewing your WRAP certification, visit WRAP's renewal process page.

Pre-Audit Self-Assessment

The optional Pre-Audit Self-Assessment (PASA) helps facilities prepare for their audit by offering sample questions and guidance on required documentation. Available in English, Spanish, and Chinese, the PASA can be downloaded, completed, and uploaded to the user dashboard after application submission. To learn more, visit wrapcompliance.org.

Factory audit and evaluation

Intertek conducts a comprehensive social compliance audit of the facility and submits the report to WRAP within 10 days. WRAP’s compliance team reviews the findings, may request revisions, and forwards satisfactory reports to an independent review board for final approval. Once approved, the facility receives WRAP certification.

Certification

WRAP offers two certification levels, Platinum and Gold, based on the audit findings and the facility’s commitment to WRAP’s 12 Principles. All certified facilities may also undergo random, unannounced post-certification assessments during their certification period.
